You’re two months into your New Year’s resolution to take up a healthier lifestyle, and doing great. You’ve gotten into a fitness regime, are making better food choices, and feel good overall. But that family vacation to the tropical Dominican Republic you’ve had planned for months is coming up and you’re worried about slipping up. Food What you eat is arguably the most important part of a health-conscious regimen. For breakfast, head to Sugarcane and get a freshly made egg white omelet packed with veggies, a green smoothie, and some whole-wheat toast with avocado. When lunching, even BRGRS.PH has options like veggie chili, wedge salads and alternatives like sweet potato fries. For a mid-day snack, Doppio has a selection of fresh juices and power smoothies made specifically for you, and Fresco’s got grilled shrimp skewers with fish ceviche you can enjoy poolside. Fitness Working out isn’t always easy. But with the Caribbean ocean as your backdrop, it makes it a little more enjoyable. Nick Resort Punta Cana has lots of fitness options to try out: beach and pool (yes, in the water!) yoga, water aerobics, beach volleyball, and even Zumba classes inside the dance studio. If you’re more competitive, grab a group and go for a game of tennis, basketball, volleyball or even archery at the Sports Hub. And if you prefer a little AC, the gym is always available for a classic cardio session on the treadmill. Just don’t ask Patrick to join you…
Activities Yes, lounging on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean is on the top of your list, and indulging in a therapeutic spa treatment is up there too, but we know you’re going to want to do lots of activities with the kiddos. Luckily, playing at Aqua Nick, having dance parties with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and going on a local tour of an eco-park can work up quite the sweat. And that’s not a bad thing.
